About

Since 1997, I have been representing plaintiffs in serious personal injury cases. My background is strong in litigation and appeals. In 2005, I successfully argued a significant premises liability case, Delgado v. Trax Bar & Grill (2005) 36 Cal.4th 224, before the California Supreme Court. This case established that California merchants have a duty of care to protect their customers from the wrongful acts of other customers due to a special relationship-based duty. I also won an appeal in another premises liability case, Mata v. Mata (2003) 105 Cal.App.4th 1121, which involved an innocent bystander who was shot by an assailant in a bar due to negligent security. My extensive experience in premises liability led Thomson Reuters, a leading legal publisher in the U.S., to invite me to author an article for its Causes of Action series. The article, titled "Cause of Action Against Tavern Owners, Restaurants, And Similar Businesses For Injuries Caused To Patrons By The Criminal Acts Of Others," appears at 26 Causes of Action 2d 1 (2004, updated Oct. 2014). It provides a nationwide, state-by-state summary of third-party premises liability law and is widely cited as a unique, go-to resource. I frequently teach courses in legal research and legal technology to law students and those seeking a paralegal degree. I have also taught appellate advocacy at Golden Gate University School of Law and pre-trial civil procedure at John F. Kennedy School of Law. I author a quarterly column for the Sonoma County Bar Association called "Legal Tech-nicalities." Additionally, I am often a guest author for the One Legal blog and maintain several blogs of my own. When not practicing law, I am active in animal rights causes and enjoy spending time with my spouse and our three rescue dogs, Buster, Dash, and Loki.
