William J. Vasquez

William J. Vásquez is the founder and CEO of Vasquez Law Firm, PLLC, a bilingual law firm headquartered in Smithfield, North Carolina with additional offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Orlando, Florida. A native of Queens, New York, Vásquez served in the United States Air Force from 2000 to 2007, including service as a Spanish linguist for the Defense Intelligence Agency. He is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and was awarded the Joint Service Achievement Medal in 2005. Vásquez earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Campbell University in 2007 and his Juris Doctor from the North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2011. He was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 2011 and is admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth, and Eleventh Circuits. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Vásquez serves as designated legal counsel for the Consulate General of Mexico in Raleigh under the Programa de Asistencia Legal Externa (PALE) and for the Consulate General of Guatemala in Raleigh, providing legal and immigration orientation to Mexican and Guatemalan nationals. In October 2023, Governor Roy Cooper appointed Vásquez to the North Carolina Governor's Advisory Council on Hispanic/Latino Affairs. He is the registered owner of the U.S. service mark YO PELEO (registered service mark) (USPTO Reg. No. 7,878,092), which translates from Spanish as "I Fight." The full brand expression "YO PELEO POR TI" ("I Fight For You") is the firm's signature tagline. Vásquez is a regular legal commentator for Univision 40 (WUVC) on immigration and Hispanic community legal issues. His practice focuses on immigration law, personal injury, workers' compensation, criminal defense, family law, and traffic matters in North Carolina; he is not licensed in Florida.
