Alex Uskoski

Alex I. Uskoski focuses his law practice exclusively on defending DUI and driving related criminal charges. DUI cases are complex and carry serious criminal, licensing, and professional consequences. For that reason, Alex devotes his entire practice to this narrow area of law, allowing him to understand and litigate every nuance of a DUI case—not just the general aspects of criminal defense. Alex is a co-author of Defending DUIs in Washington (Third Edition), a comprehensive DUI defense practice manual published by LexisNexis and relied upon by attorneys throughout the state. His work reflects an in-depth command of both the legal and technical issues involved in DUI litigation. A substantial portion of Alex’s practice is dedicated to collateral licensing matters, including Washington Department of Licensing (DOL) administrative hearings. These hearings are separate from criminal cases and involve a distinct set of laws and procedures. Alex has argued more than 800 DOL hearings, successfully obtained over 250 dismissals, and frequently litigates post adjudication appeals in Clark County Superior Court, including commercial licensing cases. Beyond the courtroom, Alex has played an active role in shaping DUI law in Washington. He has worked with the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL) to draft statutory amendments addressing DUI licensing issues and testified before the Washington State Senate in 2019 in support of legislative reforms that were ultimately passed into law. Alex has been selected as a presenter at the Washington Foundation for Criminal Justice (WFCJ) statewide DUI Defense Seminar in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. In recognition of his work, he received the Clark County Bar Association’s “Rising Star” Award in 2020 and the WACDL “Anthony Savage Award” in 2025, honoring exceptional performance within the first ten years of practice.
