About

As a Flora, Mississippi native & Vietnam veteran, I served as a Green Beret Captain and Military Police Officer before beginning my law enforcement career in Jackson. Since 1980, I’ve defended thousands of DUI, drug, domestic violence, & other serious criminal cases, bringing a disciplined Special Forces approach to clients across Mississippi and in 23 additional states. I am a founding Regent and past Dean of the National College for DUI Defense, Mississippi’s only ABA Board-Certified DUI Trial Lawyer, and a recipient of Harvard Law School’s Erwin-Taylor Award. I am also the original author of Mississippi DUI Law & Practice and Mississippi Criminal Law Practice Forms, that is now co-authored with Kevin Stewart for more than a decade. We are the best rated DUI lawyers near me for the Magnolia State. FREE CONSULTATIONS. We handle first-offense DUI cases—Mississippi’s most searched DUI topic—as well as serious traffic offenses like hit and run, representing clients statewide. We also defend sex crime allegations, including cases involving Mississippi’s age of consent laws, and aggressively protect clients’ rights at every stage. This includes statewide coverage if you need a best DUI lawyer Pascagoula MS, best DUI lawyer in Starkville MS, best DUI attorney in Rankin County MS, a best DUI lawyer Oxford MS, a best DUI lawyer Gulfport MS, or a best DUI lawyer Biloxi MS. Drug charges remain the leading reason people hire criminal defense attorneys in Mississippi, including cases involving marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and unauthorized prescription drugs. Even small amounts can lead to felony charges, with penalties of up to 30 years in prison and $500,000 in fines. We also defend high-volume violent offenses such as aggravated assault, battery & domestic violence, providing experienced, strategic representation when the stakes are highest. In addition, some crimes like shoplifting (retail theft) can seriously compromise a person's future job choices.
