Marcellus Chase

I am Marcellus Chase, an attorney at Randall Danskin located in Spokane, Washington. As a registered patent attorney, I provide guidance to clients on all facets of intellectual property. I assist clients in developing and executing both comprehensive and detailed strategies to safeguard and enforce their patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and other proprietary assets to fulfill their business goals. My experience in filing and prosecuting patent applications spans a variety of fields including medical and dental devices, aerospace technologies, telecommunications, materials science, optics, energy production, and optical inspection, detection, identification, and measuring technologies, among other areas of advanced research. Before I transitioned to private practice at a large, internationally recognized law firm, I served in-house at a major research university for over two and a half years. My professional background includes representing a diverse range of clients such as start-up companies, non-profit organizations, universities, and several well-established medium to large companies. In my practice, I handle negotiations and provide advice on research and development agreements, licensing contracts, mergers and acquisitions deals and the associated due diligence, software agreements, website terms of use, privacy policies, and franchise agreements and required disclosures. Additionally, I am a part-time professor at the University of Idaho College of Law, where I teach patent law and an introductory course on intellectual property. Outside of my professional life, I am passionate about baseball and enjoying the great outdoors. I also dedicate time to serving as the scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 464 in Spokane Valley, WA.
