Matthew B. Westmoreland

Matthew is a partner with Tucker Griffin Barnes P.C., where his practice focuses on representing individuals and families in personal injury and medical malpractice cases. He has dedicated his career to helping injured clients pursue justice and fair compensation and has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of those he represents. Originally from Bedford County, Virginia, Matthew joined Tucker Griffin Barnes in 2018 after graduating from Liberty University School of Law. Before becoming an attorney, he worked for several years as a defense litigation paralegal handling personal injury and medical malpractice matters. That experience gave him valuable insight into how insurance companies, defense counsel, and defendants evaluate and defend civil claims, which now helps him better advocate for his clients. While in law school, Matthew was an active member of Liberty University School of Law’s Trial Team. He placed second and third in the regional and national American Bar Association trial competitions in 2017. He also gained practical experience working with firms representing plaintiffs in personal injury, First Amendment retaliation, and workers’ compensation matters. Matthew currently serves as head of the Bench-Bar Relations Committee and the Attorney Wellness Committee for the Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association. He is also a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia Bar Association, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association, the Thomas Jefferson Inn of Court, and the American Bar Association. Before law school, Matthew served as Vice President of the Roanoke Valley Paralegal Association, volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, tutored at a local youth center, participated in the Roanoke Kiwanis Club, and worked as a Court Appointed Special Advocate with the Roanoke CASA program.
