About
Steven Kaplan, a 1981 honors graduate of Detroit College of Law, served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Macomb County for 24 years, and for Wayne County for two years. He has been a member of the M.S.U. College of Law faculty since 1998, teaching trial advocacy and advance evidence courses. Kaplan has been a local elected official for 22 years, including eight years as a school board trustee (Southfield Public Schools), twelve years as a township trustee (West Bloomfield), and 5 years as a township supervisor (West Bloomfield). He has authored more that 50 published articles that have appeared in legal and educational journals. Before joining the prosecutor's office in 1986, Kaplan served a research attorney for Michigan Court of Appeals Judge William Beasley, and as a staff attorney for U.S. District Court Judge George La Plata.
