About

***Please note that I only arbitrate through FINRA, which has a random selection process. Contact FINRA for further information.*** I am an employment lawyer and mediator based in New York City, and I’ve been running my own firm since 2003. My focus is on resolving workplace disputes before they escalate to lawsuits. I understand how much time, money, and energy can be wasted in court. Many legal disputes can be addressed more Humanely, Affordably, and Quickly, or HAQed, through mediation and other dispute resolution methods. Before law school, I worked in operations management and Human Resources at United Parcel Service, where my interest in employment law began. Originally, I planned to align my undergraduate studies in Sport Administration with my legal career, but my path took a different turn. I ended up learning civil procedure both in the courtroom and the classroom at the same time. Though I won my lawsuit, I never collected the damages and lost a great deal in the process. I want to help others achieve better outcomes. I offer a variety or services and products toward that goal. I am the author of *DIY CONFLICT RESOLUTION: SEVEN CHOICES AND FIVE ACTIONS OF THE MASTERS* and am currently working on my second book, *UNSUSTAINABLE: WHY OUR WORKPLACES AREN'T WORKING AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.* I’ve earned certifications in employment and ethno-religious mediation, and I served for two years as the Main Representative to the United Nations for the International Center for Ethno-Religious Mediation. I regularly collaborate with journalists on issues related to conflict resolution, workplace disputes, domestic employment, independent contractors, trauma-informed management, and mediation. I also enjoy mentoring aspiring mediators through the MediateArt program at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and at various law schools across New York City. Let's get you moving more powerfully in the direction you want to go!
