About
Kayla advocates for clients on appeal and in postconviction proceedings. She has represented clients convicted of frist- and second-degree murder, felony murder, sex offenses, motor vehicle theft, drug offenses, and various misdemeamors. Kayla has experience representing clients on direct appeal in both district court and the court of appeals, in Rule 21 petitions before the Colorado Supreme Court, and in postconviction proceedings, including Crim. P. 35(c) evidentiary hearings. Kayla graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she gained valuable experience advocating for clients in juvenile delinquency and postconviction matters. She honed her legal research and writing skills through judicial externships, including one with the Colorado Supreme Court. Prior to law school, she earned dual undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Sociology, along with a minor in Legal Studies, from Colorado State University. Kayla was born and raised in Colorado and cares deeply about legal advocacy for her community, particularly those who are underserved, underrepresented, or marginalized. Kayla is committed to defending the rights and dignity of individuals impacted by the criminal legal system. She believes every client deserves zealous advocacy, no matter the case.
