John Shamaa Williams

I am John S. Williams, Esq., and I founded The Law Offices of John S. Williams, LLC in New Orleans, Louisiana. My firm is dedicated to fighting for individuals who have suffered injuries due to negligence, ensuring they receive the justice they deserve. My firm handles a wide range of personal injury cases including bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, and car accidents including Uber/Lyft accidents. My journey to law was unexpected. At Xavier University of Louisiana, I was deeply engrossed in science, majoring in biology with plans to pursue a PhD, possibly focusing on immunology. However, my career trajectory shifted when I took a part-time job while working toward a master’s degree in biology at Alabama State University. With a job in the Alabama governor’s office, I working closely with attorneys on policy matters. I found the work intriguing and realized the potential of using the law to assist people. This realization prompted me to enroll in law school at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After obtaining my law degree, I served under a justice at the Arkansas Supreme Court, followed by a role in the Arkansas attorney general’s office within the consumer protection division. There, I defended individuals against fraud, deception, and unfair business practices. My career took another turn when I became the legal director of the Mississippi office of the American Civil Liberties Union. At the ACLU, I handled cases related to civil rights and social justice, including issues of free speech, the right to protest, and the conditions of confinement for prisoners. In 2008, I returned to New Orleans to work with the Juvenile Justice Project of Louisiana, advocating for the rights of children within the juvenile justice system. By 2012, I was ready to establish my own practice, focusing on securing justice for those injured through no fault of their own.
