Melissa E. Osborne

I primarily practice in the areas of family and matrimonial law. My approach to each case is rooted in cooperation and collaboration. However, the best settlements arise from being fully prepared for trial, and I am a seasoned and skilled litigator, having honed my courtroom advocacy skills in hundreds, now thousands, of hearings, motions and trials. I have a strong track record in crafting financial settlements and parenting plans that avoid post-divorce pitfalls. I understand the challenges of divorce and am committed to assisting clients through these difficult times. Beyond my law practice, I serve as the State Representative for the 16th House District. In this role, I am an Assistant Majority Leader, a Vice Chair of the GAE Committee, and a member of both the Judiciary and the General Law Committees. I am affiliated with the Hartford County, Simsbury Regional, and Connecticut Bar Associations, as well as the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce. I have been actively practicing law for 27 years. I hold a B.S. in Political Science and Economics from Hunter College and earned a Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from New York Law School. In the early years of my career, I worked at top-tier international law firms, where I received thorough training and refined my skills in a highly competitive environment. I have represented the largest investment banks and private equity companies in complex financial transactions, which has equipped me with strong financial acumen for handling complex high-asset cases. I strive to consistently provide a strategic, direct, and compassionate approach in assisting my clients.
