Nicky Nixon Daughtrey Jr.

My name is Nixon Daughtrey, and I'm the owner of The Daughtrey Law Firm. I founded this firm to do something most attorneys can't: represent landowners using knowledge I built from the other side of the table. After being licensed in Texas in 2001, I spent nearly a decade inside the oil industry, working as a licensed attorney and landman for major operators including Chesapeake, BP, ConocoPhillips, Noble, and Sheridan. My job was to find title problems, negotiate leases, and structure deals to benefit the companies I worked for. I did that across Texas and multiple other states. That changed in 2011. I lost my mother to cancer in August, and my grandmother just months later. Probating their estates while grieving showed me how difficult it is to face legal matters during life's hardest moments. It also clarified something I had been feeling for a while: using what I knew against landowners no longer felt right. I founded The Daughtrey Law Firm to put that operator-side knowledge exclusively to work for property owners. I know which lease clauses operators hope you won't question. I know what they'll negotiate and what they won't. I know how title problems get used as leverage, because finding those problems used to be my job. Today I represent Texas landowners exclusively in oil and gas, mineral rights, real estate transactions, probate, and estate planning. I never represent operators or drilling companies.
