Robert Abtahi

Robert B. Abtahi is an experienced Dallas criminal defense attorney and the founding partner of Texas Defenders Law Firm. He represents individuals facing criminal charges throughout Dallas County, Tarrant County, Collin County, Denton County, and surrounding North Texas communities. With nearly two decades of legal experience, Robert is known for his strategic approach, courtroom advocacy, and commitment to protecting his clients’ rights and futures. Robert began his legal career in the private sector as a tax attorney, working on complex financial and regulatory matters for individuals and businesses. He later transitioned into public service, serving as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Dallas. In that role, he also acted as the Community Prosecutor for South Oak Cliff, where he worked closely with neighborhood leaders, law enforcement, and city officials on public safety and community revitalization efforts. In 2011, Robert founded Texas Defenders Law Firm with the goal of providing aggressive, high-quality criminal defense to people navigating the Texas criminal justice system. His practice focuses exclusively on criminal defense, including DWI and DUI charges, drug offenses, weapons charges, theft and property crimes, assault and violent offenses, and post-arrest relief such as expunctions and nondisclosures. Robert earned his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he was a member of Law Review.
