About
Tara Jorfald is a criminal defense attorney who has dedicated her entire legal career to criminal appeals and postconviction litigation. Since becoming licensed in 2013, she has practiced at The Noble Law Firm, LLC, representing clients in complex cases involving life sentences and other lengthy prison terms. Her practice focuses on direct appeals in the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court, as well as postconviction litigation in the trial courts. Tara regularly represents clients before the Colorado Supreme Court in petitions for certiorari, original proceedings, and amicus briefing. She also advises trial attorneys on preserving issues for appeal and postconviction strategy, assists counsel with complex appellate briefing, and prepares attorneys for oral argument. Her work also includes clemency petitions, pardons, and sentencing mitigation. In addition to her litigation practice, Tara teaches continuing legal education programs and trains law students and newer attorneys in appellate advocacy and postconviction practice. Before attending law school, Tara worked with the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, where she managed multiple international human rights projects for the Norwegian government, including strategic litigation initiatives in South Africa. She also worked with the Norwegian Organization for Asylum Seekers, where she handled asylum appeals. Tara earned her B.A. from Concordia College (2004) and a Master’s degree in the Theory and Practice of Human Rights from the University of Oslo Faculty of Law (2008). She received her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law (2013) and has completed numerous national trainings in juvenile defense, trial advocacy, and appellate writing. Tara is a member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and regularly provides pro bono representation and mentorship. She is proficient in Spanish and Norwegian, holds an Avvo 10 “Superb” client rating, and has received numerous peer endorsements.
