About
I, Robert A. "Rob" Swofford, was raised in Nassau Bay, Texas, and completed my high school education at Clear Creek High School in 1983. I pursued my undergraduate studies at Baylor University before earning my law degree from South Texas College of Law in May 1994. During my law school years, I was honored with numerous academic awards. Immediately after graduating, I began my career working alongside the renowned criminal defense attorney Dan Cogdell. In 2006, I was recognized as one of Houston’s Top Lawyers in the field of Criminal Defense. My career has allowed me to personally try cases to verdict across all levels of State and Federal courts, and I amassed extensive experience as a second chair under the direct supervision of Dan. My work has led to representation of high-profile clients and cases, resulting in appearances in national and local publications such as People Magazine and Texas Monthly. I have also been featured on several national broadcasts including “Dateline NBC,” “20/20,” and “Good Morning America.” I am licensed to practice in the State of Texas, the Federal District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Additionally, I have represented clients in South Carolina, Illinois, Mississippi, Alabama, and Hawaii. Before founding Collins, O’Neal & Swofford in 2009, I spent several years at Greer, Herz and Adams, where I worked in insurance defense and notably assisted in national litigation for DirectTV against over 15,000 defendants. Prior to this, I served as Vice President and general counsel to a Houston-based engineering and consulting firm with a broad range of clients both in the United States and internationally. In 2012, I left Collins, O'Neal & Swofford to establish the Swofford Law Firm, focusing on Criminal Law, Personal Injury, Construction Law, and Commercial Litigation.
