About
Attorney Daniel E. Martin III has built his career around a commitment to fairness, accountability, and advocating for those who are often underserved. Shaped by family legacy and lived experience, he approaches the law with compassion, integrity, and a belief that everyone deserves respect and a strong voice. Daniel’s passion for justice was inspired early by watching his father practice law as a solo attorney representing working-class and indigent clients with equal care and respect. That influence, combined with a powerful family history—including his grandfather’s decision to pursue law after his brother’s admission to the University of South Carolina School of Law was revoked to prevent African American enrollment—helped shape Daniel’s path. Daniel and his father later became proud alumni of USC’s law school, continuing a legacy rooted in perseverance. Before joining Steinberg Law Firm, Daniel served as an Assistant Solicitor in South Carolina’s Ninth Judicial Circuit, where he gained extensive courtroom experience prosecuting criminal cases in Charleston County. He balanced protecting the community with recognizing the challenges faced by many defendants, emphasizing accountability while seeking opportunities for rehabilitation. Prior to law school, Daniel worked as a paralegal with the U.S. Department of Justice’s International Prisoner Transfer Unit in Washington, D.C., evaluating cases involving incarcerated individuals seeking transfers to serve sentences closer to family—an experience that reinforced his belief that justice must include humanity. A Charleston native with a diverse background, Daniel remains active in mentorship and community service through Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., 4 Rivers Community Outreach, and the YWCA. Outside of work, he enjoys fitness, travel, and giving back, and is a proud Eagle Scout.
