I earned my J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, where I consistently made the dean’s list throughout my academic journey. Even before entering law school, I had a strong passion for family law. After completing my first year, I spent the summer working at Aid for Victims of Domestic Violence (AVDA), a non-profit organization dedicated to representing and advocating for victims of domestic violence. That experience solidified my commitment to family law and my desire to assist individuals during the challenging times that accompany custody and marital issues. During the remainder of my time at the University of Houston Law Center, I took every opportunity to immerse myself in family law. I worked as a research assistant for the Family Law professor, interned at a law firm, and clerked for Judge Heppard in the 387th Judicial District Court and Judge Peake in the 257th Judicial District Court. Additionally, I earned certifications in both basic mediation and advanced family law mediation. Exploring family law from multiple perspectives during my education was vital to me, and I made it a priority to engage with the field in every possible way. Since graduating, I have focused exclusively on family law at Skillern Firm. I approach each case with dedication, creativity, and a thoughtful ability to view complex issues from different angles, which contributes to the firm’s mission of supporting clients in meaningful ways.
