About

I am Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction held by only 1% of family lawyers in Texas. For the past 10 years, I’ve been a proud member of Skillern Firm Divorce & Child Custody Lawyers. My journey with the firm began in May 2013 when I joined as the first law clerk, back when the firm had just two attorneys. Under the direct guidance of Mr. Skillern, I gained hands-on experience and was prepared to hit the ground running the moment I received my law license. Since then, I haven’t looked back. While Matt and I still collaborate on cases from time to time, I’ve been managing my own caseload for years. I handle all types of family law matters and am here to guide you through the process. I particularly enjoy working on complex property cases and child custody modifications, although I am fully equipped to handle all areas within Family Law. I graduated from South Texas College of Law, where I tailored my coursework to focus on areas that directly benefit our clients. My studies included family law, marital property, wills, trusts, and estates, mock trial, sexual orientation and the law, and family trial advocacy. Through my family law advocacy class, I had the unique opportunity to learn directly from a sitting family court judge, gaining valuable insight into handling a family law case from start to finish. I earned the highest grade in my family law course and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for my seminar paper in Sexual Orientation and the Law, titled “The Denial of Same Sex Marriage: A Takings Clause Approach.” Additionally, I was honored to receive the Dean’s Merit Scholarship in 2011, 2012, and 2013. While in law school, I represented South Texas College of Law on a national level as a varsity advocate in both mock trial and moot court competitions. These experiences allowed me to hone my skills as both a writer and speaker, competing as an advocate and oralist.
