About

Lance D. Northcutt joined Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. in 2020 as a Partner, specializing in catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, civil rights, and mass tort cases. Over his time at the firm, he has recovered over $625 million for his clients. He played a key role in a landmark $363 million toxic tort case where a woman developed breast cancer from exposure to emissions from a sterilization plant. This verdict set a record as the largest awarded to an individual plaintiff in Illinois history at the time. Northcutt also helped negotiate a global settlement for over 800 other victims. His other notable achievements include a $45 million settlement for a traumatic brain injury case and a $20 million recovery for a woman struck by a CTA bus. Mr. Northcutt's extensive background as a former Cook County prosecutor and law enforcement officer has equipped him with unique litigation expertise. He has tried hundreds of cases and represented clients on appeal, including before the Illinois Supreme Court, where he won two unprecedented cases involving emergency supervisory relief. His broad experience spans complex investigations and legal representations before regulatory bodies. In addition to his litigation work, Mr. Northcutt is a respected legal educator with 20 years of experience teaching trial advocacy, evidence, and legal ethics in the U.S. and Ireland. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, leading their International Comparative Advocacy Program. He has been honored as Adjunct Professor of the Year and Outstanding Trial Team Coach. Mr. Northcutt has published widely, receiving national recognition from the American Bar Association. He also serves on the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Professional Responsibility and previously as a Commissioner on the Illinois Supreme Court’s Commission on Professionalism. In addition, he volunteers for the International Institute for Animal Law and FSMA.
