Melanie Ryder

I am the Managing Partner of Ryder Legal Services, where I focus on Business Law, Estate Planning, and Intellectual Property. I work with startups, entrepreneurs, and small business owners to build strong legal foundations that protect both their companies and their personal legacies. I am admitted to practice in Indiana (2017) and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (2018). I am also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. My background in biology (B.S., Indiana University Bloomington) gives me a unique analytical perspective when advising innovators, founders, and brand builders. Before founding Ryder Legal Services, I served as a Senior Associate at Jason May Law and previously practiced at Overhauser Law Offices. My experience spans business formation, contract drafting and review, trademark protection, and comprehensive estate planning. I help clients connect the dots between their business entities, intellectual property, and long-term asset protection strategies. I am especially committed to serving underserved communities, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals with non-traditional family structures. I believe estate planning and business protection should reflect real lives, real relationships, and real goals. My approach is clear, compassionate, and strategic. I translate complex legal issues into practical guidance so my clients can move forward with confidence. I am a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Hamilton County Bar Association. Outside of my practice, I play roller derby with the Circle City Derby Girls and enjoy painting and crafting.
