Marissa Mallon

I have dedicated my career almost exclusively to family law, handling a wide range of cases that include amicable divorces, custody agreements, high-conflict litigation, and complex financial disputes. My practice also encompasses parentage and paternity actions, child support, spousal maintenance, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and protection from abuse and restraining orders. Additionally, I assist with stepparent adoptions, adult adoptions, consensual adoptions of minors, and judicial bypass proceedings. My clients appreciate my clear communication, practical guidance, and ability to remain composed during emotionally charged situations. In recognition of my work and commitment to client advocacy, I was honored as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in both 2024 and 2025—an accolade reserved for just 2.5% of attorneys in the state who demonstrate excellence early in their careers. My active involvement in the legal community further enhances my ability to represent and advocate for my clients effectively. I currently serve as Secretary of the Young Lawyers Section of the Johnson County Bar Association, and I am a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and Johnson County Family Law American Inn of Court. Growing up in Independence, Missouri, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Northwest Missouri State University in April 2018, completing my degree in just two years. I then obtained my Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in May 2021, where I received the John Speca Family Law Award for my dedication to the field of family law.
