Michael Layman Ritchie

Michael Ritchie is an attorney at the Ritchie Law Firm with extensive experience in a wide range of injury cases. Mike’s practice has included representing individuals who have been injured by pharmaceutical drugs, dangerous products, tractor-trailer collisions, dog attacks, automobile collisions and other instances of where the carelessness of others causes serious injury. Mike also helps the injured and disabled to successfully navigate the worker’s compensation and social security disability systems. Mike’s family has deep roots in the Shenandoah Valley. He was raised in Keezletown and graduated from Spotswood High School in Penn Laird in 1991. He attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and was an active member the UVA Ski Team. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs in 1996. He returned to the University to study law joining the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law. He graduated with Juris Doctorate in 2002. Upon completion of law school, Mike opted to return home and serve the community that had shaped him. Mike was admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Virginia in 2002 and the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia in 2003. He is admitted to practice before U.S. District Courts of the Western District of Virginia and the Southern District of West Virginia. He also regularly practices before the Virginia Worker’s Compensation Commission and the Social Security Administration. Mike continues to be active in the legal and local communities. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Bar. He is an active member of the American Justice Association. He is currently serving on the Board of Governors of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. He is also the Chairman of the Young Trial Lawyers Section of VTLA. While Mike practices primarily in the Charlottesville and Harrisonburg offices of the law firm, the representation of his clients takes him across the nation.
