About
Elise Cousineau grew up in a house where both parents practiced law. They used to joke that she could be anything she wanted, as long as it wasn’t an attorney. So of course, that’s exactly what she became. She started out thinking she would work with kids. At UConn Law, she spent time at the Center for Children’s Advocacy and on the Connecticut Law Review. After graduation, she found herself drawn to family law cases with adults and quickly realized it was where she belonged. She’s been practicing family law ever since and loves helping people find their footing in a new chapter of life. Elise has always been a puzzle person, so there’s something she really enjoys about seeing the pieces of an agreement finally click into place. Before law school, Elise studied theatre at the University of Vermont and stage-managed a production of Cabaret with more than fifty cast and crew. Juggling that many personalities gave her a crash course in patience, problem-solving, and organization, which she still uses every day. She’s also kept her love for musical theatre alive. When she isn’t working, Elise is probably reading, doing a crossword, knitting, or in the kitchen cooking something new. She’s also a reality TV fan and spends more time than she should trying to explain the drama to her two cats, Hades and Persephone.
