During his time as District Attorney, he advocated for thousands of victims, serving as their voice when they could not speak for themselves. As a prosecutor, Matt conducted over 300 jury trials, which included approximately 60 murder cases and 17 capital murder cases, and he maintained a perfect record in felony cases. In addition to criminal cases, Matt served as the chief counsel for Lubbock County, managing all civil lawsuits, contracts, and other legal matters concerning the county. His cases and professional activities have been highlighted on several television programs, including NBC Dateline, ABC 20/20, 48 Hours, Forensic Files, Investigative Discovery, Solved, and Crime Watch Daily.
