Matthew Chandler

Matt Chandler is a partner at Payne, Powell, Truitt & Chandler in Lubbock, Texas. Licensed to practice law in both Texas and New Mexico, he is uniquely qualified to represent clients in a wide range of legal matters across both states, both in and out of the courtroom. Originally from Clovis, New Mexico, Matt was raised in a family with a strong foundation of faith and an exceptional work ethic. His father, a former Magistrate Judge and New Mexico State Senator, gave Matt an early exposure to the legal profession. Before joining Payne, Powell, Truitt & Chandler, Matt served for over a decade as the 9th Judicial District Attorney in Clovis, New Mexico. During his tenure, he was honored with the New Mexico Prosecutor of the Year Award and prosecuted some of the most serious and complex criminal cases in the state, including 35 murder cases and one of New Mexico's last death penalty cases. In addition to his role as a prosecutor, Matt has also served as a District Judge in the 9th Judicial District, where he presided over thousands of cases spanning criminal law, family law, and civil disputes. His extensive legal experience has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of both the judicial and prosecutorial processes, making him a trusted advocate for his clients.
