About
Originally from a small town in eastern NC; I attended NCCU located in Durham, NC to be exposed to the diverse culture and gain a sense of unwavering pride of my African heritage. I received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. I began my career as a dispatcher for the NCCU PD. I remained faithful despite the 12 hour rotating swing shifts I until I was recruited as a sworn law enforcement officer with the NC Dept. of Public Safety as a Probation/Parole officer. After over 11 years of service, I realized that I was walking adjacent to my path but not on my path. It was then I shifted gears and reignited my passion for the law from the advocacy and litigation stand point. In 2016, I graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate and Master’s of Arts in Psychology. After passing the 2016 Indiana bar exam I began working as a Deputy Prosecutor for the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office in Crown Point, IN. Over the next 5 years I gain unparalleled experience as a litigator, negotiator, and advocate. In 2018 I decided to put my master degree to work outside my legal career and began teaching as an adjunct professor at Indiana tech satellite campus in Hammond. I teach various courses in psychology, sociology, and legal studies. Currently own and operate a criminal defense and family law firm called NSW Legal, LLC. Nevertheless, I am more than just an attorney and professor. I’m a mother and Pop Warner Football Team Mom/Coach. I’m a published author in the book anthology Born to Lead: Awakening the Leader Within, which was released fall of 2022.
