Elisa Christine Cozad

Attorney Elisa Cozad brings more than a decade of legal experience, youth advocacy, and community-centered service to her role as a Family Law Attorney at Nexus Legal Counsel. Known for her steady presence, thoughtful communication, and deep compassion for the families she serves, Elisa approaches every case with a focus on clarity, dignity, and long‑term stability. Before joining Nexus, Elisa built a distinguished career advocating for young people and vulnerable individuals across Washington and Colorado. At TeamChild, she represented youth in matters involving education access, housing stability, post‑conviction relief, protection orders, and reentry planning, while also contributing to policy advocacy and legislative testimony. She has also led initiatives in project management, Know Your Rights education, and community engagement. Earlier, Elisa served as a Deputy Public Defender in Colorado, handling more than 1,000 juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony cases. Her extensive courtroom background and specialized experience in juvenile advocacy provide her with deep insight into the challenges families face in the legal system, insight she brings to her family law practice. Additional roles in youth programming, nonprofit leadership, and defense investigation further inform her holistic approach to advocacy. Elisa earned her J.D. from UC Davis School of Law, where she received the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award, and holds a B.A. in Law, Society & Justice from the University of Washington, graduating with honors.
