Monica J. Washington Rothbaum

I am an attorney and seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience in corporate governance, legal operations, and strategic business planning. As the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Attorney at J&Y Law Firm, I focus on fostering organizational growth, enhancing systems, and improving operational efficiency throughout the firm. I have been a member of the bar since 1999 and hold licenses to practice in Maryland, Florida, Washington D.C., and New York. Before joining J&Y, I worked as Chief Operating Officer at Bogin, Munns & Munns, P.A., a full-service law firm with a large personal injury practice. During my tenure there, I streamlined operations, introduced cloud-based management systems, and boosted case conversion rates. Earlier in my career, I served as Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel at the American Automobile Association, Inc., where I gained valuable experience in contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and team development. My legal journey began with two influential clerkships. I first clerked for Chief Judge Harry T. Edwards at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, followed by Justice David H. Souter at the United States Supreme Court. These early opportunities greatly influenced my approach to leadership, legal analysis, and solving complex problems. I earned my Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law and an MBA from Rollins College, where I graduated as valedictorian. Additionally, I hold a Master of Public Affairs from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude. I am fluent in Spanish and remain an active member of the bars in Washington D.C., Florida, Maryland, and New York. Outside of the office, I enjoy health and wellness, outdoor activities, and reading.
