About
I practice civil litigation and criminal defense. I began my legal career in the Washington, D.C. office of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, a New York-based international law firm, where I was a member of the business fraud litigation group. In 2010, I returned to Sarasota, where I was born a raised, to practice law with my father, a board certified civil trial lawyer with over 40 years of experience, and his law partner, Elliott Metcalfe, an AV rated former public defender with over 30 years and thousands of trials worth of experience. I have experience representing commercial clients in both a litigation and an advisory capacity. I have represented individuals in a variety of litigation matters, including personal injury, medical and dental malpractice, sexual harassment, probate litigation, contract disputes, business disputes, and tort cases. I have also represented clients accused of various crimes, including DUI, driving with a suspended or revoked license, leaving the scene of an accident, unlicensed contracting, battery, fraud, embezzlement, conspiracy, money laundering, wire fraud. I have been published on the subject of computer searches and seizures under the Fourth Amendment. I earned my Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law. While there, I served as an Articles Editor for the George Mason Law Review. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida, majoring in philosophy and minoring in English. Prior to my career as an attorney, I taught middle school language arts, worked for several years in the IT department of an AMLAW 100 law firm, and, subsequently, a computer forensics firm. When I am not actively lawyering, I am the vice president of Sarasota Academy of the Arts, a public charter school; Secretary of Sarasota Contemporary Dance; Daddy columnist for Mommy Magazine; a jiu jitsu enthusiast and instructor of kids' jiu jitsu at West Coast Dojo; and a father of three.
