Valerie Cortinas Fisher

I am a litigation attorney at the San Antonio office of Melone Hatley, P.C., with nearly a decade of experience in family and criminal law. My career has included work as a solo practitioner and as an Assistant District Attorney in Bexar County, where I prosecuted cases in the Criminal Trial and Intake Divisions, including those related to family violence. Before joining Melone Hatley, I worked as a litigation attorney at a prominent family law firm, where I handled complex domestic matters. I take a strategic and client-focused approach to my practice, especially in high-conflict cases that require effective communication, compassion, and strong courtroom advocacy. Being fluent in Spanish allows me to help my clients fully understand their rights and legal options, ensuring they feel supported and confident throughout the process. My experience includes handling custody disputes, grandparent rights, modifications, and other cases involving parent-child relationships. I also manage cases that involve the intersection of family and criminal law, such as domestic violence and protective orders. I earned my J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law and hold a B.A. in Political Science and Drama from Trinity University.
