I was born in Roswell, NM in 1956 and completed my 12th grade at Stavanger American School in Stavanger, Norway in June 1974. I graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice Theory and Research, along with a minor in Government from Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas in May 1978. During my time there, I was elected to the National Political Science Honor Society in 1977. I earned my J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas in December 1980 and was licensed by the State Bar of Texas in May 1981. I entered private practice in San Antonio, Texas in June 1981. I am admitted to all state courts in Texas as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. I have served as the Past Chair for the District 10B-2 Grievance Committee of the State Bar of Texas. Since 1994, I have been Board Certified in Family Law. I have held positions such as President, Vice-President, and Director within the San Antonio Family Lawyers Association. I am also a member of the Family Law sections of both the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association. Additionally, I was a former Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Throughout my career, I have been the primary attorney on over 750 family law cases, which includes at least 600 bench trials and over 45 jury trials tried to verdict. I have devoted more than 90% of my practice to family law, which includes handling high asset divorce and contested child custody cases. I am an approved mediator for the Bexar County District Courts, having completed over 90 hours of formal mediator training. I have also been trained in Family Law Arbitration and Mediation by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
