James J Burns Jr.

James J. Burns Jr. is the founder and owner of The Burns Law Firm P.C.. He has practiced in the areas of bankruptcy law, student loan law, and debt negotiations since 1992. James is a long-time Lake County resident and Chicago native who graduated in 1987 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is a 1989 graduate of the DePaul University College of Law. James has practiced law since 1989 and has represented thousands of debtors in consumer bankruptcy. Prior to starting his firm, James worked for several of the large consumer bankruptcy firms in Chicago. Tired of the “factory” law firm approach, he founded his own law firm in 2005. James is married and has a thirteen-year old daughter. James is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago bar Association.
