Katharine Wesley Maddox

Katharine Maddox brings over 20 years of experience to her family law practice, addressing every facet of domestic relations matters. She is skilled in both negotiation and litigation and frequently employs alternative dispute resolution when appropriate. A Virginia Supreme Court certified mediator, Katharine also regularly handles collaborative law cases. She approaches each case with a commitment to partnership, treating her clients as teammates in the pursuit of thoughtful, respectful outcomes. Whether the matter involves complex financial holdings, custody of children, or the determination of support obligations, Katharine strives for resolutions that allow families to move forward with dignity. Katharine is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL), currently serving as First Vice President of its USA Chapter. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and the American College of Family Trial Lawyers (ACFTL), an invitation-only group of 100 of the nation’s most accomplished family law litigators. Membership in the ACFTL requires at least two decades of practice, AAML membership, and a demonstrated career marked by ethical excellence and collegiality. She is consistently recognized among the top family law attorneys by Washingtonian, Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Virginia Business Magazine, which named her among its “Legal Elite.” AVVO has awarded her its highest possible rating of “Superb” (10.0). A graduate of the University of Virginia (B.A. in psychology) and The George Washington University Law School (J.D. with honors), Katharine served as Chairperson of the Law School Academic Integrity Committee. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her family, her two rescue dogs, and cooking.
