Stephen Lyle Hamilton

I’m Stephen Hamilton, a Board Certified Criminal Defense Attorney in Texas with more than 27 years of experience practicing criminal law and over 20 years of board certification in criminal law. I am a partner at Texas Criminal Defense Group, where our practice focuses heavily on DWI defense and complex criminal cases across Texas. Throughout my career, I have tried more than 100 jury trials to verdict and have been involved in hundreds more through firm leadership, case strategy, and trial preparation. I am also the author of multiple books and guides addressing DWI and intoxication-related offenses, including first-offense DWIs, blood test cases, intoxication manslaughter, and A Citizen’s Guide to a DWI Arrest. Education and transparency have always been central to my approach, both for clients and for the legal community. My work in DWI defense began in the early 2000s through advanced training with the National College for DUI Defense. Since then, I have devoted extensive time to continuing legal education, forensic science, and trial strategy. I regularly speak with other attorneys about DWI defense and criminal trial work and have provided commentary on intoxication-related issues for local media.
