Carl Barrett Thomas

Barrett Thomas is the Principal of Lighthouse Legal Services, PLLC (formerly Blanchard & Thomas, PLLC) and the Founder of Christian Family Law Solutions, LLC. Barrett is an award-winning, experienced attorney with over 22 years of law enforcement and legal experience. He is a former Chief of Police and First Assistant District Attorney. Barrett left criminal prosecution in 2015 to use his investigative skills and trial acumen for the benefit of his many family and criminal law clients. More recently, Barrett has pursued a faith-based mission to prevent families from engaging in toxic family litigation that creates emotional trauma and financial ruin. Prior to opening LLS, Barrett earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University, a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University, a Bachelor’s from Hardin-Simmons University, and both a Master’s Peace Officer and Instructor’s Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. He is currently a graduate student in Marriage and Family Therapy. Barrett has been recognized for his personal and professional successes by being named a SuperLawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine year after year; one of the “Best in Waco” for the last 6 years; an Outstanding Young Alumnus of Hardin-Simmons University in 2019; a member of the Leadership Waco Class of 2018; and the Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) award from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2017. He was voted the Outstanding Young Lawyer in 2014 by the Abilene Young Lawyers Association.
