Michael F. Bonamarte IV is the managing partner at Levin & Perconti in Chicago, where he has built a reputation as one of Illinois’ premier trial lawyers in birth injury and medical malpractice litigation. Born and raised in Highland Park, Mike has devoted his career to securing justice for families whose lives have been forever changed by negligence. Michael’s record-setting results include: $40 million birth-injury verdict on behalf of a 19-year-old disabled teen—the largest medical-malpractice verdict in Illinois outside Cook County and a record in Coles County. $29 million settlement for a child who suffered brain damage due to a delayed C-section at UIC Medical Center, secured just before closing arguments. $27 million settlement for a mother and son injured by preventable HIE/asphyxia at birth, caused by a delayed cesarean section. $6 million CILA settlement for the family of a resident who passed away due to group home negligence. These results rank Mike among the top trial lawyers in the state. In recognition of his achievements, he has been honored by Super Lawyers for over a decade, rising from “Rising Star” to full recognition, and was recently named a Top 100 Super Lawyer in Illinois for 2024.
