About

Garrett D. Haynes grew up in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where he first fell in love with the law while studying Criminal Justice Administration at Middle Tennessee State University. During his time at MTSU, he became fascinated by criminal law and the restraints the U.S. Constitution places on the State to preserve individual freedom. He believed God called him to pursue a career in law, and he attended law school at the University of Memphis. There, he excelled near the top of his class, earning multiple awards for legal writing, research, and oral advocacy. He also wrote on the Memphis Law Review and graduated 11th in his class. But the calling was never to become a big-city attorney. He wanted to serve smaller communities and the real-world problems they face, and he has a particular heart for rural Tennessee. More comfortable in a flannel T-shirt and blue jeans than a designer suit, he brings that same grounded approach to his practice—stopping to listen first, not delivering a sales pitch. After beginning his career in Shelbyville, Tennessee, with the law firm of Wilson & Henegar (later Wilson & Haynes), he quickly established himself as a skilled trial attorney. Having won multiple acquittals for clients in jury trials, he is not afraid to put the State to its proof. Since moving to Winchester, Tennessee, in 2019, Garrett and his wife, Lacey, have made it their lifelong home. He opened his practice in Winchester because he has fallen in love with Franklin County and is committed to serving its people. He looks forward to serving the people of Franklin County and its surrounding areas.
