Amanda Fay Benedict

Ms. Benedict is an appellate attorney in California and in federal courts. Ms. Benedict additionally provides legal writing services for fellow attorneys. Ms. Benedict's litigation background included both defense and plaintiff representation. As a defense attorney, Ms. Benedict had a good working relationship with several insurance carriers advocating for their insureds in automobile liability, premise liability, and business liability matters. As a plaintiff's attorney, she was passionate about fighting for the rights of cyclists and motorists who sustained injuries in accidents. Working on both the plaintiff's side and the defense side provided Ms. Benedict with a unique objective view of legal issues. As an appellate advocate, Ms. Benedict has represented clients before the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and successfully obtained Cert. review at the United States Supreme Court. She has submitted in excess of 200 appellate briefs, in a wide range of matters including maritime, longshore, criminal, education, civil rights, professional liability, and personal injury. Ms. Benedict earned her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association. She earned her B.A. from University of California, Santa Barbara, and was a member of their NCAA women's soccer team. Ms. Benedict loves the San Diego outdoors. Ms. Benedict has successfully completed an Ironman triathlon and several half-ironman triathlons. Ms. Benedict remains active on playing golf, sailing, mountain bike riding and running with her dog.
