About
For over 40 years, I have dedicated my career to representing both businesses and individuals as they deal with complex interactions with government agencies. My practice encompasses securing various zoning and land use permits, defending clients against government compliance and penalty actions, and resolving disputes over property issues such as easements, boundaries, and adverse possession. Additionally, I assist in obtaining licenses for a diverse array of business operations. I often find myself challenging arbitrary requirements associated with land use permitting and government compliance. My work in appellate courts includes significant cases like Guimont v. Clark, 121 Wn.2d 586, where the Washington Supreme Court invalidated a state law that imposed a mobile home relocation fee on developers, and Berst v. Snohomish County, 114 Wn. App. 245, which saw the Forest Practices Act penalty moratorium struck down for violating due process. At my practice, the only firm in Gig Harbor and Kitsap County focusing solely on property rights and land use issues, I represent a wide range of clients including individuals, businesses, developers, and homeowners’ associations across the Puget Sound region. My clients depend on me to tackle complex zoning and permitting challenges, government enforcement actions, and disputes concerning property rights. I believe that effective legal advocacy combines thorough knowledge of the subject matter with inventive problem-solving. I strive to develop solutions that efficiently meet my clients’ objectives, opting for settlements when they align with my clients’ interests. However, when settlement is not the best option, I am ready to litigate vigorously, aiming for successful results in both trial and appellate courts.
