About
In private practice, Jesus La Rosa focuses on supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses, advising on entity formation, tax status, and strategic planning. His passion for helping start-ups stems from his broader interest in business and corporate law, which has shaped much of his legal career. Originally from Cuba and raised in Miami, Mr. La Rosa launched his legal career on a strong note by earning a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Iowa College of Law, a nationally recognized institution. His own immigration journey—one that included several years living in Venezuela before reaching the United States—inspired him to study immigration law. While in law school, he gained hands-on experience as both a student practitioner and interpreter for Iowa Law’s legal clinic. Mr. La Rosa distinguished himself academically as well, receiving the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence in Legal Analysis, Writing and Research I for authoring the most comprehensive memo in his class. He also contributed to legal scholarship as Associate Editor for Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems, the school’s international and comparative law journal. Beyond immigration, he developed a strong interest in corporate and business law, taking multiple business-focused courses that opened doors early in his career. He secured a clerkship with Principal Financial Group (a Fortune 250 company), where he handled a wide range of matters including commercial litigation, governance, compliance, pensions and IRAs, real estate, securities, trusts, insurance, and international commercial contracts.
