Stephanie L. Tang

I am an Associate Professor of Law at Baylor Law School, where I teach Family Law, Advanced Family Law, Children and the Law, and LARC 3: Persuasive Communication. I also serve as the Director of the Baylor Law Family Law Clinic. Before joining Baylor, I was a Partner at a family law firm in Chicago, working in various areas of family law. I hold certifications as a mediator, a fellow with Collaborative Divorce Illinois, and a Certified Financial Litigator with the American Academy for Certified Financial Litigators. My background includes significant experience in litigation, mediation, and collaboration on high-conflict divorce and parentage cases. During my time in private practice, I received recognition such as the Illinois State Bar Association’s 2019 Young Lawyer of the Year Award and the 2024 CLE Achievement Award. I was also honored with several distinctions in family law, including being named a Rising Star in Family Law by Illinois Super Lawyers, an Emerging Lawyer in Family Law by Leading Lawyers, and one of the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch. Additionally, I earned the Avvo Clients’ Choice Award for outstanding client reviews. I earned my B.A. in Psychology and Legal Studies with Honors from Northwestern University. I later graduated Magna Cum Laude with pro bono notation from the University of Illinois College of Law. During my time in law school, I was awarded CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Family Law, the HNBA Internal Moot Court Competition, and Regulations of Financial Institutions. I also received the Marguerite L. Rickert Award for Excellence in Legal Writing and Service, recognizing me as one of the top eight students in my graduating class in these areas.
