About

Katrine R. Fleishman’s (née Lazar) practice is focused in the areas of real estate and estate planning, including trusts, wills, and powers of attorney for health care and property. Katrine helps her clients – whether they are first time homebuyers, experienced investors or anyone in between – navigate the closing process, successfully closing hundreds of real estate transactions. She works with her estate planning clients, tailoring a plan for their future that fits their individual needs. Katrine has been with Newland and Newland, LLP since 2015. Before joining Newland & Newland, LLP, she was an associate at a Chicagoland firm where she began her practice in real estate, estate planning, probate, and elder law. Katrine volunteers with Wills for Heroes preparing estate plans for first responders and their families. She is a member of the Lake County Bar Association, the Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County, and the Illinois State Bar Association. Mrs. Fleishman has worked extensively in public policy in the United States and the United Kingdom for the Scottish Parliament, the British House of Commons, the United States House of Representatives, and the United States Senate. In Washington, DC, she clerked for Senator Dick Durbin's Judiciary Subcommittee and later for Senator Tom Harkin's Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee working primarily on issues that affect children and families. Katrine graduated from Wellesley College with a dual degree in Psychology and Political Science. She earned her master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science in Public Policy and Administration with a specialization in Public Management and Administration. Katrine subsequently attended Georgetown University Law Center where she was named a Dean's Scholar, Pro Bono Pledge honoree for substantial pro bono service, and participant in the Federal Legislation and Administrative Clinic.
