Rami S. Yanni

I am a Partner and Chair of the Firm’s Intellectual Property & Media Group, with over 30 years of experience guiding multinational companies, emerging growth businesses, and individuals on matters involving intellectual property, media, entertainment, and technology. My practice includes intellectual property transactions, licensing, portfolio strategy and management, enforcement and anti-piracy efforts, entertainment and digital media agreements, content acquisition, licensing and distribution, consumer products licensing, e-commerce, advertising and promotions, celebrity endorsement deals, and M&A due diligence. Throughout my career, I have negotiated hundreds of licensing, distribution, acquisition, and commercial agreements across industries such as motion pictures, television, music, software, video games, publishing, apparel, footwear, cosmetics, consumer electronics, food and beverage, toys, theme parks, and sporting goods. I have worked with major motion picture studios and television networks on copyright and trademark matters and have closed license and acquisition transactions with a combined deal value exceeding $4 billion. My work includes managing global trademark and copyright portfolios, leading anti-piracy and brand protection strategies, coordinating international enforcement efforts, and negotiating complex agreements across both traditional and emerging media platforms. Clients appreciate my ability to provide business-focused legal advice, often noting that my background as both an in-house lawyer and outside counsel allows me to address intellectual property concerns in a practical and straightforward manner. My goal has always been to deliver clear, actionable guidance that aligns with business objectives. In addition to my practice, I am proud to serve as an Adjunct Professor of Law at USC Gould School of Law.
