Jeanne Ann Pennebaker

I have more than 36 years of experience in litigation, transactional work, and court proceedings, focusing on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer and small business Bankruptcy, as well as Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. My practice also includes Foreclosure Defense and Debt Negotiation. Since 2017, I have been running my own solo practice in Charlotte, NC. Before moving to Charlotte, I built, staffed, and managed a successful law practice in Chicago, Illinois, where I represented a wide range of Bankruptcy clients. In that role, I argued adversary proceedings, regularly handled creditor matters, appeared in foreclosure defense cases, negotiated IRS settlements, and represented clients in traffic court. Earlier in my career, I practiced for five years with Zalutsky & Pinski, a well-known consumer bankruptcy firm, focusing on Chapter 13 cases. Prior to that, I spent two years at Robert J. Adams & Associates handling bankruptcy, family law, and class action cases involving violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Born and raised in Chicago, I have a love for the blues, deep-dish pizza, and cheering for Da Cubs and Da Bears. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and earned my law degree from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. During my second year of law school, I participated in an exchange program through the Concannon Program of International Law with Notre Dame in London, U.K. I was also active in Moot Court, serving as team captain in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition. Since settling in Charlotte, I have attended and graduated from O. Max Gardner’s Bankruptcy Boot Camp, where I also led a research project on Bankruptcy issues specific to North Carolina. I am proud to be a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association.
