Based in the firm's Champaign office, my work focuses on business and financial litigation, commercial transactions, real estate, and agricultural law. I also assist individuals and businesses with estate, wealth, and succession planning. As a practical advisor to business owners and entrepreneurs, I have been involved in multi-million-dollar transactions and have guided businesses through every stage of their lifecycle, from formation to exit. In my litigation practice, I have represented both individual plaintiffs and corporations. While I have taken numerous cases to verdict, I take pride in my ability to find common ground, having resolved multiple seven-figure cases through negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. Before joining Heyl Royster, I co-founded and served as a partner at my previous firm, where I advised individuals and institutions and built strong relationships within the central Illinois community. I approach even the most complex legal and business challenges with practicality, whether in the boardroom or the courtroom. Over the years, I have worked closely with venture capital funds, financial institutions, businesses, and non-profits of various sizes. My background as an entrepreneur and former business owner gives me a unique perspective across various industries. With nearly two decades of civil litigation experience, I have appeared in state and federal courts across the country, including the Multidistrict Litigation Panel. I have also successfully argued cases before the Illinois State Court of Appeals and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition to my legal work, I am an avid reader and writer.
