Nicole Jacquelyn Hanson

Nicole J. Hanson has over 10 years experience as an attorney. Nicole graduated magna cum laude from Wheaton College in Massachusetts in 2000 with a degree in Political Science and Lifetime Membership from Alpha Kappa Delta, International Sociological Honor Society. Nicole thereafter obtained her law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2003, where she was a member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity and participated in The University of Oxford-Ohio State University Law Program. Nicole is currently a member of the California State Bar, Humboldt County Bar Association, and Hoopa Valley Tribal Court Bar. Prior to joining the practice of law with her father as Hanson & Hanson in 2011, Nicole worked as a prosecutor with the Counties of Humboldt(2004-2006) and Placer (2006-2007). During her time as a prosecutor Ms. Hanson handled serious and violent felonies and misdemeanor cases for both adults and juveniles from initial charging through final disposition. Nicole is experienced in bail hearings, preliminary hearings, Proposition 36/Drug Court, sentencing hearings, mentally disordered offenders, court trials, and jury trials. Nicole also worked for the California State Assembly Public Safety Committee as Staff Counsel from 2007 through 2011 wherein she advised Members of the California State Assembly and Senate on pending legislation. In her position as staff counsel Ms. Hanson also worked with numerous lobbyists to draft effective policy initiatives. Nicole’s practice experience also includes all aspects of family law; dissolution of marriage, unmarried custody and parenting time, custody and support modifications and enforcement, third party custody; guardianships and domestic violence.
