Jeffrey Michael Allen

I am a principal at Graves & Allen, where I focus on a general civil practice that has, since 1973, included negotiation, structuring, and documentation of real estate, loans, and business transactions. My work also encompasses receiverships, civil litigation, and bankruptcy. Additionally, I dedicate a significant portion of my time to serving as an arbitrator and mediator. I have maintained a Martindale-Hubbell AV Rating for over 30 years and have been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer for more than a decade. For over 30 years, I have been actively teaching and writing about technology, producing hundreds of articles on technology, law practice management, and lawyering skills. I have co-authored and edited nine books, eight of which center on technology topics. My teaching experience includes numerous continuing education classes on technology, trial techniques, real estate practice, and dispute resolution through arbitration and mediation. My work with the ABA began in the early 1980s, and I have held positions on various editorial boards, such as Experience Magazine, Voice of Experience, GPSolo Magazine, the GP Solo eReport, and the Technology eReport, where I served as Editor-in-Chief. I have also contributed as an editorial board member for the ABA Journal, participated in the ABA Standing Committee on Information Technology, and been a part of the ABA’s Cybersecurity Task Force. I earned my B.A. in Political Science with Great Distinction and Distinction in Honors from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1970, where I was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. I received my J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley Law (formerly Boalt Hall) in 1973. I have authored and co-authored numerous articles and six books on technology and law practice, including serving as co-editor and contributing author for the 4th Edition of the ABA Cybersecurity Handbook.
