About
Gloria Lynn Smith was raised as a “little soldier” in a military family, attending eight different schools across her childhood. This foundation instilled in her a sense of discipline, resilience, and adaptability—qualities that would later shape her career as a fierce defender of justice. She attended three different universities before earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Alaska in Anchorage. After graduation, she moved to Northern Kentucky to attend Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. Her talent and leadership quickly emerged: during her first year, she was invited to join Moot Court and later became Vice Justice of the program in her second year. Attorney Smith launched her legal career in 1993 in Cincinnati, Ohio, stepping into high-stakes felony cases—including homicide, drug offenses, and sexual assault—just two years after law school. Her relentless commitment to the law and her clients earned her the role of General Counsel for a police union, where she represented law enforcement officers under criminal investigation and oversaw hundreds of arbitration disputes between union members and management. While criminal defense is her core focus, her experience spans civil rights, personal injury, family law, bankruptcy, abuse and neglect, dependency, and general litigation. This breadth gives her a strategic advantage: she understands how complex life circumstances often intersect with criminal charges and uses that insight to deliver a defense that’s as comprehensive as it is powerful. Attorney Smith is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Ohio, as well as in the Southern District of Ohio, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. When she isn’t fighting for justice, she enjoys weightlifting and writing books.
