About
Rich Oberdorfer is one of Oregon’s foremost DUI defense attorneys, respected by peers for his command of the law and his relentless advocacy for clients. He is now part of Gilroy Napoli Short Law Group, where he will be working primarily out of the firm’s Portland office. With more than 20 years focused on DUI and related criminal defense, Rich has earned a reputation for delivering strong results while treating clients with real care and respect. Rich’s approach is grounded in his background. He grew up in a working-class community in rural Oregon and worked his way through school, experiences that shaped how he connects with the people he represents and the challenges they face. He graduated from the University of Oregon before enrolling at Lewis and Clark Law School, where he graduated cum laude in 2001. After working at a busy Measure 11 public defense firm in Multnomah County, he opened his own practice and quickly gravitated toward DUI defense and other vehicle-code crimes. He made his mark by consistently achieving stellar outcomes for clients, and over time became a frequent lecturer on DUI-related subjects, an advisory committee member, a mentor, and a municipal court judge. Throughout his career, Rich has earned notable recognition, including being named a Rising Star in DUII defense by Oregon Super Lawyers from 2008 to 2012, and an Oregon Super Lawyer in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, he was also chosen by Willamette Week readers as one of the top three lawyers in Portland across all practice areas.
