Ethan P. Meaney

I am a practicing attorney in Oregon, focusing on DUII criminal defense. Before this, I served as managing partner at the criminal defense law firm DWI GUYS in Minnesota. I graduated magna cum laude from Northern State University in 1996 and earned my law degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1999, finishing in the top of my class. Right after law school, I worked as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Richard C. Perkins in Minnesota’s First Judicial District Court. Following that, I joined Hoff, Barry & Kuderer in Minneapolis, where I handled criminal DWI prosecutions. My time as a prosecutor helped me develop a distinct understanding of DWI law from that perspective, which I now apply in representing my clients. In 2005, I co-founded the criminal defense firm Meaney & Patrin, PA (The DWI GUYS), where I provided defense for thousands of DWI and DUI cases across Minnesota. During this period, I gained extensive experience by handling numerous license revocation (Implied Consent), DWI vehicle forfeiture, criminal DWI, and appellate DWI cases. In 2024, I moved to Oregon to join my family and practice DUI law in the great state of Oregon. I truly enjoy practicing in the area of criminal DUII defense because it allows me to help clients navigate a legal system that has grown increasingly harsh on drivers, especially when it comes to the loss of driving privileges and mandatory jail time. My goal is to ensure drivers have a voice in an often unsympathetic criminal justice system.
